Bethany Young Hardy is a seasoned public relations strategist and writer, with experience in political, nonprofit, and corporate communications. Since 2008, she has run her own communications consulting business, with clients including American University, the Pew Health Group, Knighten Health, ProLiteracy Worldwide, and The Business and Professional Women’s Foundation. Her writing has been published in the Washington Post, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Christian Science Monitor, Babble, PBSParents.org, and other publications. Prior to launching her own shop, Bethany was communications director at the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies, where she planned outreach activities related to IOM studies on prominent national health issues. She also served as director of media relations at the Partnership for Public Service, a nonpartisan nonprofit focused on inspiring Americans to federal government service. From 1998 to 2001, Bethany was press secretary for U.S. Representative Martin Sabo (D-Minn.) In 2000, she served as the Minnesota press secretary for the Gore/Lieberman campaign. Before working on Capitol Hill, Bethany served as a writer and editor at the Animal Health Institute. She started her career at Ruder Finn, an international public relations firm. She serves on the Board of Directors of The Reading Connection, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting literacy to children in housing crisis in the Washington, D.C. area.

Bethany received her BA in English from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. An Ohio native, she resides in Arlington, Virginia, with her husband and son.
